Shell Philippines has officially launched the Asian leg of the Shell Eco-marathon last Friday, January 17, at Patio Victoria in Intramuros. The Asian leg of the annual Shell Eco-marathon was started in 2010. The competition challenges students from around the world to design and make energy-efficient vehicles. Country Chairman Edgar Chua announced that the Philippines will be hosting the event in celebration of the centennial year of Shell in the country. The Asian leg of the competition will be held in Manila from February 6 to 9, 2014 at the Luneta Park with 120 teams from 16 counties. The Philippines have 17 teams from, among others, the De La Salle University, University of Sto. Tomas, and Mapua Institute of Technology.
